Following a big slate of games during Week 7 of the 2013 college football season, ESPN has updated its Big 12 bowl game projections.
Boasting a perfect, 5-0 record and a prolific offense, Baylor has moved into the driver’s seat for the league’s automatic BCS berth. Could the Bears’ Fiesta Bowl invite morph into one for the BCS national championship game? Yes, but until this team takes on the likes of Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Texas and wins, they remain behind Alabama and the Ducks.
The Red Raiders of Texas Tech have also shocked many by earning bowl eligibility at 6-0. However, the real stunner as we near the midway point of the season has to be Texas. The world had left the Longhorns for dead, but a huge Red River Rivalry upset of Oklahoma has them sitting at 3-0 in the league and primed for a second straight trip to the Alamo Bowl.
The bottom of the league barrel is looking pretty barren. Of Iowa State, Kansas and West Virginia, none are expected to win enough games to earn a Heart of Dallas Bowl invite.
