New England coach Bill Belichick knows a thing or two about legendary players. Since taking over the Patriots back in 2000 (he is the NFL’s longest-tenured coach, for those wondering) Belichick has led his franchise to five Super Bowl berths and three rings.

Obviously, everyone knows the type of relationship he has forged with Tom Brady, who has earned his place as one of the greatest to ever play at the quarterback position. However, there are so many others: Tedy Bruschi, Rodney Harrison, Corey Dillion, Troy Brown and Matt Light to name a few.

On Tuesday night, he hosted a Q&A on his girlfriend, Linda Holliday’s, Twitter account (Mr. Belichick himself will never, mark our words, never have an account himself). He answered a number of questions, but one stood out. The man who owns the rings and coached so many future Hall of Fame-caliber players was asked whom he would prefer between Deion Sanders and Jerry Rice.

Rice is far and away the greatest receiver to have ever lived. He basically owns every conceivable receptions record out there, except for the few Lions’ wideout Calvin Johnson broke recently.

However, Belichick went with pure speed, athleticism and personality.

Again, it is an interesting choice from a man who knows a thing or two about winning games and building legends. However, what might be even more interesting is the fact that he made a choice at all. One might assume that, as a student of the game, it was difficult, whereas for example, making a choice about what bands he prefers would be the easier ones.

At least when it comes to his favorite candy, the coach was unequivocal.

Not exactly the Reece’s or Birthday Cake Oreos we prefer here at Gamedayr, but we’ll take it.

As for Deion over Rice?

We’ll leave that debate up to the legends.

This Hall of Famer might have been better served on Twitter, rather than cursing live on-air.
