Billy Donovan Rumored To Be Minnesota Timberwolves’ Coaching Target

Brace yourself, Florida fans, the NBA’s offseason coaching carousel is just heating up and Billy Donovan is already rumored to be a potential target. According to ESPN’s NBA reporter Marc Stein, the Minnesota Timberwolves have Donovan on their list of coaching candidates to replace Rick Adelman.

Donovan is coming off a Final Four run with the Florida Gators, and is one of the most successful college coaches in the game today. He stuck his foot into NBA waters in 2007, briefly becoming the Orlando Magic’s head coach before changing his mind and returning to Gainesville.

Part of Donovan’s release from his Orlando contract was that he couldn’t coach in the NBA for five seasons. That time frame has come and gone, and Billy D is now free to take whatever job he wishes. With that being said, it would certainly be a surprise to see Donovan head north to Minnesota, despite the prospect of coaching budding superstar Kevin Love.
