Ohio State is set to host Wisconsin in what is shaping up to be the biggest Big Ten game of the young season on Saturday in Columbus. However, there is one character that won’t be there, but is still playing a part in the headlines nonetheless.
That would be Arkansas coach Bret Bielema. After leading Wisconsin to a third consecutive conference crown a year ago, he bolted for a fat SEC paycheck – but not before creating a bit of animosity in the Midwest. We as fans saw the obvious friction built most publicly between Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer and him when Bielema told reporters that Meyer wasn’t recruiting the way he expected coaches to recruit in the conference.
The point is, Gary Andersen looks very good at the helm in Madison after coming over from Utah State, and Meyer completely agrees. When asked if he missed Bielema, Meyer said, “I’m good with Gary [Andersen].”
On Tuesday, Bielema was on the set of ESPNU’s College Football Daily. It only took a few words for him to make his point.
“The feeling’s mutual,” -Bret Bielema, on College Football Live when asked about Urban Meyer’s reaction on if he missed Bielema.
