Holy War Throwbacks: BYU to wear royal blue uniforms vs. Utah

On Sept. 21, the BYU Cougars will be hosting the Utah Utes in a battle for in-state supremacy. In preparation for the Holy War (what could be a more fitting name for the schools’ rivalry?), BYU will be throwin’ it back to the royal blues the team sported and dominated in back in the day.

Interestingly, while we do not have confirmation of this, the school may be wearing royal blue pants as well as uniforms for the game. In the promo photo below, we can see the white stripe running down the leg, helping delineate where the jersey ends and pants begin. An all-out royal blue look? We don’t mind it one bit.

I talked to a guy that works at the place where they do all of byu’s stitch work (names, numbers, etc.) he said they didn’t receive any royal blue pants as indicated by the above picture and in the season tickets book. he says they only got white with royal blue stripes. its all speculation and couldn’t just been said to keep me guess but with that said, I prefer the blue shirt/white pants combo, ESPECIALLY in royal blue (in case you don’t remember, we haven’t faired well back in the handful of times we went all royal blue in the mid 90’s)
