Cal’s Fabiano Hale sent to hospital after locker room fight

According to the Henry K. Lee of the San Francisco Chronicle, freshman Cal running back Fabiano Hale was taken to the hospital following a fight in the Golden Bears’ locker room.

Campus police told the Chronicle that the 18-year old suffered various, as-yet-undisclosed injuries in a “one-on-one” fight with a teammate. Hale, a freshman walk-on, was checked out at a campus clinic before being moved to Alta Bates Medical Center for further treatment. Police already know who the teammate is, but have yet to release his name to the public.

The fight occurred a day after Cal lost, 33-28, to the Arizona Wildcats. It was the seventh consecutive defeat for the Bears after opening the year at 1-1.

This has been an extremely frustrating season for first-year coach Sonny Dykes, who arrived from Louisiana Tech as a replacement for the ousted Jeff Tedford. Tensions are apparently boiling over.
