Just when you though the Alabama football program couldn’t get any bigger, it did – literally. Cameron Robinson, at 6-foot-5 and 330 pounds, already has an NFL lineman’s body, but he won’t even be playing his college ball until 2014.
But when he does, Robinson will be doing so for the Alabama Crimson Tide, according to AL.com.
Robinson is easily the No. 1-rated offensive lineman in the nation. The newest member of the Tide is also, however, the No. 1 recruit overall, regardless of position, according to the 247Composite rankings (an average of the four major recruiting service rankings).
In recent weeks, the West Monroe, Louisiana native had narrowed his choices down to Bama and SEC West rival LSU. At that point, he was all set to make his decision when ESPN stepped in and requested he wait. They wanted to broadcast his announcement ceremony live on ESPNU, and Robinson obliged.
That ceremony was held at 1:00 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday. A few minutes after that, the nation learned that the rich had gotten richer.
Alabama had the crown jewel of its 2014 recruiting class in place.
