The world was just about treated to a little fat guy offensive fun on Thursday night. If only Rutgers lineman Keith Lumpkin had had his wish.
With the Scarlet Knights taking on big-bad Louisville, coach Kyle Flood pulled an okie doke on the Cardinals. The field goal unit lined up before shifting into shotgun formation.
J.T. Tartacoff transitioned from placekick holder to quarterback and rifled a pass to tight end tyler Kroft on 4th-and-3.
The pass was completed for 26 yards all the way down to the Louisville one.
But here’s the thing: Tartacoff was looking left the entire time. Had he taken a moment to glance to his right, he would have seen the frantically waving arms of the 6-foot-8, 315-pound Lumpkin as the big man was looking to make a play.
That right there is a large man looking for a small chance at some glory.
