Earlier on Tuesday we posted a photo of Chandler Parsons with a hew hairdo. We now know exactly why the Houston Rockets’ budding star shaved his head.
According to Mark Berman, Sports Director of Fox 26, Parsons made the change for Patrick Hobbs-DeClair, a young boy who is suffering from cancer.
Chandler Parsons visited a little boy with stage 4 cancer who is upset he doesn’t look like his friends so Chandler shaved his head for him.

Parsons, who has formed a unique bond with Hobbs-DeClair, told Jason Friedman of Rockets.com that he is inspired by his resilience.
“The kid is so strong and so brave,” Parsons says of Patrick. “Here I am going to see a podiatrist for an ingrown toenail and this kid is battling for his life. How he handles it is incredible. It’s similar to what we do: He tries to not look ahead and he tries to not look behind. He game plans for every single day and every day is a new day and a new challenge. He just tries to plan and do what he’s got to do for that day to survive.”
“To go through what he’s going through and to be so positive, it’s an inspiration.”
