Chane Behanan’s ride with the Louisville Cardinals is finally over. On Monday, the school announced that the forward had been dismissed from the team for “a violation of university policy.” Coach Rick Pitino was vague on the details behind the dismissal.
“He just did not do the right thing over and over and over,” coach Rick Pitino said Monday.
Behanan’s career while at Louisville was turbulent, to say the least. In October, he was suspended for violating university rules. At that point his future with the Cardinals was in jeopardy. Pitino, however, reinstated him less than a month later.
This time it appears that the dismissal is permanent. When asked about the possibility of another reinstatement, Pitino responded with the following:
“None that I can see. This is a university policy and has been stretched to the limits.”
Behanan was a force in last year’s national championship run for the Cardinals. He was expected to be more of the same this year, as one of the focal points of the team.
Behanan was averaging 7.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game during this season.
