On Oct. 17, the defending national champion Louisville Cardinals announced that oft-troubled forward Chane Behanan had been suspended from the team indefinitely. Less than a month later, they lifted the suspension, and the 6-foot-6 Cincinnati native was fully reinstated.
When the suspension was initially announced, coach Rick Pitino had said that Behanan would not be back until mid-December. However, he will now be available to play against Hofstra on Nov. 12.
Behanan has been in trouble before for various and relatively minor violations of team rules. At one point, he was cut off from all media availability. Through it all, “maturity issues” were involved, but the reason for this most recent suspension has not been divulged.
Chane Behanan averaged 9.8 points and 6.5 rebounds last season, helping Louisville to the national title. With the junior forward back in the mix, the Cardinals’ road to a repeat just got a little easier.
