Chris Walker has finally been admitted to the University of Florida, reports OnlyGators.com. Walker had been academically ineligible, but spent the fall semester taking online courses to boost his academic standing.
Though he can now practice with the team, Walker has not yet been cleared to play. The NCAA has investigated possible transgressions by Walker during the recruiting process, when AAU coach Matt Ramker paid for the five-star recruit’s unofficial visit to Kansas.
According to Only Gators, the earliest Walker will play for the Gators is January 2014. Nonetheless, the forward’s presence will give coach Billy Donovan’s bench some much needed depth.
Walker is a 6’10 forward out of Bonifay, Florida. He chose the Gators over other basketball powerhouses, such as Duke, Louisville, Kansas and North Carolina.
