The Johnny Manziel effect is in full force in Cleveland. In the 12 hours immediately following the Browns’ selection of Manziel, the franchise saw season ticket sales fly through the roof.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, team president Alec Scheiner confirmed that 1,500+ new season tickets had been sold as of Friday morning. That number is only going to increase as fans run their budgets for next year and make room for Manziel and the Browns on Sundays.
Scheiner is confident that every game will be sold out next season.
“We know right now that every one of our games is going to be sold out for next season.”
To put Manziel’s draft selection into perspective, Cleveland ticket broker Mark Klang compared the day to when the Cleveland Cavaliers won the draft lottery for LeBron James.
“I would equate getting Johnny to the night we won the draft lottery to get LeBron (James) in 2003. We got more hits to our website in the hour after Johnny was drafted than we got in the three days after the schedule came out.”
To quote Manziel’s good buddy Drake, “Started from the bottom.”
