With the college basketball season eyeing the home stretch, it’s time once again to take a look at the updated odds to win the 2014 Men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament.
Syracuse is currently the odds on favorite to take the big dance at 5/1. The Orange are a sparkling 21-0 on the season. Wichita State is the only other undefeated team in the top 25 at 23-0. The Shockers’ odds are slightly lower at 12/1. Outside of Syracuse, Vegas’ college basketball lines like Arizona (6/1), Kansas (6/1), Michigan State (8/1), Kentucky (7/1) and Florida (7/1) to hoist the trophy.
One team to watch for is the Florida Gators. Florida’s senior laden team just received a boost in the clearance of 2013’s No. 1 center recruit in Chris Walker. Walker will provide athletic depth down low for the Gators, which is considered the team’s only weakness. Billy Donvoan will likely work Walker in with Patric Young and Will Yuguete in a strategic manner as to keep the team chemistry rolling.
The next group of teams favored to win the title are Michigan (14/1), Oklahoma State (12/1), Duke (10/1) and Louisville (15/1). Despite featuring one of the top players in the game in Marcus Smart, the Cowboys have hit a rough patch lately, losing their last three games, and four out of five.
A couple of teams to watch are North Carolina (100/1) and Ohio State (30/1). The Tar Heels have shown flashes of brilliance, as well as head-scratching moments, throughout the season. The Buckeyes won their first 15 games before dropping five of their last seven. Thad Matta is a good coach, and come March Madness, he should have Ohio State heading in the right direction.
