Four-Star Quarterback Blake Barnett Chooses Alabama Over Oregon

The University of Alabama picked up another big-time commitment on Wednesday when four-star quarterback Blake Barnett selected the Crimson Tide over the Oregon Ducks. Barnett, a 6’4, 195 pound recruit out of Corona, California, is listed as 2015’s No. 3 dual-threat quarterback in the country by 247Sports.

From the sound of his announcement and subsequent interview with Bleacher Report, Nick Saban put the full court press on Barnett. Saban met with the recruit six times in the matter of three days, ensuring Barnett that Tuscaloosa is a place where he can succeed both on the field and in the classroom.

Barnett was originally sold on Notre Dame, but dropped his commitment in January following a trip to Eugene. Apparently that open door was enough for Saban to swoop in and pluck Barnett from the Ducks. Perhaps even sweeter for the Tide staff is that they also beat out Michigan for the commitment, where former Alabama offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier was the primary recruiter.

Barnett joins an already stacked 2015 class in Tuscaloosa. The Tide are currently ranked No. 1 by ESPN, and have 19 commits to date. Below is video of Barnett’s announcement.
