The Florida Gators landed elite California quarterback recruit Sheriron Jones for the class of 2015 over this past weekend. Jones, who plays for Rancho Verde High School in Moreno Valley, is ranked as the No. 5 dual-threat quarterback and No. 131 overall player according to 247 Sports. At just over 6’2″ and weighing in at 190 pounds, he has the multidimensional tools that new offensive coordinator Kurt Roper is looking for in his offense.
Jones sights the team’s family atmosphere as one of the big draws to joining the Gators. He told 247 Sports’ Ryan Bartow, “It’s so much like family there. I love the coaching staff, they’ve been straightforward with me. I just love being at the Swamp.”
Florida fans may recall another big-time player out of Rancho Verde who moved across the country for the Gators - Ronald Powell,
Jones’ commitment marks the ninth for the Gators’ 2015 class, which is expected to end up as a massive haul.
