Phil Steele’s Preseason All-America Team For 2014 Is Heavy On FSU

College football guru Phil Steele has released his 2014 Preseason All-America Team, marking another pitstop in the long offseason. Steele projects players based on how he thinks they will fair in the upcoming season, as opposed to last year’s finish.

Steele predicts another big year for FSU, placing five Seminoles on his first team and three on his second team. Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston was given second-team status due to the historical trend of returning winners seeing a decline in numbers. There has also only ever been one Heisman winner to repeat – Ohio State’s Archie Griffin in 1974 and 1975.

Oregon (3), Georgia (2), Alabama (2), USC (2), and Texas A&M (2) all had multiple players selected to the first team.

Following are Steele’s first and second teams. For his third and fourth, visit ESPN.
