South Carolina’s NCAA Infraction Is Icing On Top Of The (Cookie) Cake

The South Carolina football team really went and did it this time. Over the past year the Gamecocks reported seven secondary NCAA infractions, one of which was rather tasty.

Wait for it …

Steve Spurrier’s team provided “impermissible iced decorations on a cookie cake given to prospects,” according to a report from the Associated Press.

Let that sink in for a minute.

Now that you’ve digested how ridiculous impermissible icing is, here are the other violations:

  • Recruits taking pictures with trophies and jerseys that were provided inside the locker room for them on a table.
  • Prospect taking a picture with a former USC player who’s now in the NFL.
  • Allowing a player to take a photo in a non-personalized jersey on the football field.
  • Three impermissible text messages sent from coaches to recruits.

Steve Spurrier’s response?
