Kirk Herbstreit Predicts Gators Will Have Big Bounce-Back Year

ESPN personality and former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit was in Jacksonville on Thursday as the guest speaker for the JAXSPORTS College Football Kickoff Luncheon. In front of a packed house of more than 800 individuals, Herbstreit discussed several hot topics headed into this season, including the SEC Network and College Football Playoff.

Being in the Florida Gators’ backyard, he also touched on the state of UF’s program and the ever-changing dynamic in college football.

Herbstreit sees a big year ahead for the Gators, predicting 9 or 10 wins, and believes that Muschamp is the right guy in Gainesville. Both sentiments that we agree with here at Gamedayr

Although we won’t know until the season kicks off, the Gators appear to be a much more explosive unit under new offensive coordinator Kurt Roper. Couple that with Muschamp’s championship-caliber defense, and hopefully a season less riddled by injuries, and there’s no reason that Florida can’t compete for the SEC East.

Herbie also sees the Gators as one of FSU’s only threats this season.

Florida kicks off the season on August 30 against Idaho at 7:00 p.m. ET.
