Mark Richt spoke with the press on Thursday at SEC Media Days and, to put it nicely, he was not too pleased with predictions for his Georgia Bulldogs in 2014.
Mark Richt asked if being picked in second place sounds about right: “Uh, no. I’d have us first.”

I say “put it nicely” because that’s Richt to a tee. He’s not going to stand up there, pull out a megaphone and yell “bullshit” like, say, Steve Spurrier would. He’s not Les Miles, who would line up every media member and paddle their backsides. No, Richt firmly states his point and moves on.
When asked a second time about Georgia being ranked behind South Carolina, coach stayed the course and reiterated his stance.
“Obviously, what’s important is what happens at the end of the year. Earlier I got asked that question. I said, I’m not happy to be named number two. I’m not going to start cheering that we’re number two. I think in the end it’s going to be Georgia.”
It’s nothing that you wouldn’t expect him to say, but handled with aplomb as always.
