New Maryland Field Will Include Turf Cooling Technology (Pictures)

In addition to the new design (pictured below), the Capital One Field will also include state of the art turf cooling technology. The announcement was made on Wednesday when the school officially released details on the project along with pictures.

The project at Maryland is the first of its kind in the United States and will feature exclusive new heat-reducing technology – CoolPlay – which, coupled with the patented silica sand and cryogenic rubber infill, will provide the facility with the “coolest” infill technology. FieldTurf has done extensive temperature testing which shows that CoolPlay infill provides for a difference of up to 15 degrees Fahrenheit versus traditional rubber infill systems.

Contrary to rumors that have been swirling, the Maryland field will be traditional green, not black. The new turf also includes the new Maryland logo design across the entire endzone. Check out the pics below.
