Creighton throttles Villanova in historic performance

Villanova ran into a buzz saw on Monday night. In an historic performance, Creighton throttled the Wildcats, 96-68.

The Blue Jays set a Big East record for three pointers in a single game. It was only the school’s seventh league game since joining the conference.

The victory was Creighton’s first over a top-five team in more than 40 years.

Creighton’s win was so rare that it’s last road win over a top-25 team came against Larry Bird’s Indiana State team. Only four players on Creighton’s roster were alive while Bird was still in the NBA.

If Villanova can hang its hat on anything, it’s that the team’s only two defeats this season have come against currently No. 2 (and still undefeated) Syracuse, and a red-hot Creighton club.
