Do you remember that talk show hosted by Chevy Chase back in the day? What about The Magic Hour with none other than Magic Johnson?
Of course you don’t, because you never watched either of them.
It looks like none of you folks out there watched Regis Philbin’s new show on Fox Sports 1, “Crowd Goes Wild,” either.
A 0.1 overnight rating? Did someone out in North Dakota accidentally leave Fox Sports 1 on and then go eat dinner?
It may be time for the not-so-young Regis to phone a friend.
After all, it seems that his success on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” is what landed him this role anyways.
“I’m sure people say, ‘Is an 81-year-old really going to bring in the demographic that you want?’ Well, yeah,” [Fox Sports co-president Eric] Shanks says. “(Who Wants to Be a) Millionaire’ was a top-five show in 18-34. Who doesn’t like Regis?”
That quote appeared in Variety Magazine on Aug. 13, exactly one week before Philbin’s Fox Sports 1 premiere.
And the crowd goes mild.
