Florida reeled in a big-time commitment on Thursday when five-star offensive tackle David Sharpe pledged to the Gators.
Sharpe is the fourth offensive line commit for the class of 2014, however, he’s the first tackle. The other three are all guard prospects.
The 6-foot-6, 290-pound senior out of Jacksonville, FL chose Florida over Florida State, Georgia, and Tennessee. He is the No. 2 offensive tackle recruit and No. 18 overall prospect in the country, according to ESPN Recruiting Nation.
Sharpe, whose athletic ability could find him on the field in his freshman year, is excited to help resurrect the Gators’ program.
“Just the relationship I built with them,” Sharpe said. “Coach Muschamp really needed help and I really want to help turn the program around. I think we have a special class coming in.”
