DeSean Jackson may have been cut, but he wasn’t bleeding for long. The wide receiver, who was released by the Philadelphia Eagles amid strange allegations of “gang ties,” is now a member of the division rival Washington Redskins. With his new contract, Jackson will be making out nicely.
The Washington deal is reportedly worth $24 million over three years. Jackson will receive $16 million of guaranteed money. By comparison, he was entering the third year of a five-year deal with the Eagles before his release. Had he stayed in Philadelphia, Jackson would have earned $10.5 million for the 2014 season.
Coming off a career season, but suffering damage to his reputation, Jackson’s deal with the Redskins appears mutually beneficial for player and team.
