Eric Rivera Jr., the man charged with killing former Washington Redskins and Miami Hurricanes safety Sean Taylor, has been convicted of second-degree murder. After confessing their indecisiveness to the judge, and asking to re-examine large chunks of evidence, jurors settled on the charge, as opposed to the stiffer penalty of first-degree murder.
Taylor was shot and killed during a home invasion in 2007. Rivera initially confessed to the murder, but later recanted, stating the confession was coerced by police. Four other men have been charged in the ill-fated burglary attempt.
