Generally home to Penn in the Ivy League, The Palestra is one of the most celebrated cathedrals in all of intercollegiate athletics.
On January 18, 2014, the arena will play host to the ESPN GameDay crew’s first broadcast of the college basketball season. On Wednesday, we found that out, as well as where Rece Davis, Digger Phelps and the rest of the crew will be traveling for the 2013-14 campaign.
Intra-city rivals Temple and La Salle kick things off, again, in The Palestra, with the show starting at 10 a.m.; the game’s tipoff is slated for noon. The crew will be double-dipping for the first and only time next year as it then heads to UConn for the Huskies’ highly-anticipated showdown with defending national champion Louisville.
From there, all of the usual suspects have made the cut, from Michigan State to Duke to Florida to Kansas and North Carolina. All powerhouses are expected to be at their best once again next year. It should be a great season.
