In a shocking development, starting Fighting Irish quarterback Everett Golson is no longer enrolled at Notre Dame, obviously clouding his future as a football player.

Golson’s mobility and improved play throughout his first season as the Irish starter was one of the reasons why coach Brian Kelly’s squad went 12-0 in the 2012 regular season and earned a berth in the 2013 BCS national title game.

In fact, with him entrenched under center, former superstar prep recruit Gunner Kiel decided it was in his best interest to transfer to Cincinnati this spring.

As of writing, the reason Golson is no longer enrolled in South Bend is not publicly available. However, check back for regular updates as this unique situation continues to unfold.

Golson finished the 2012 season having completed 187 of 318 passes for 2,405 yards along with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Someone should’ve told him that he won’t be playing against the Crimson Tide next year. He might have stayed.
