In just the second game of the Texas Rangers’ 2013 season, pitcher Yu Darvish came this close to pitching a perfect game. He gave up a single to Marwin Gonzalez, the Houston Astros’ No. 9 hitter who brought a lifetime .234 batting average into the evening, on the last out of the game.
Fans across the nation were hurting right along with Mr. Darvish and his flirtation with fame.
I’d be so pissed if I was Yu Darvish..

#YuDarvish So close! But I applaud his ability to laugh at the situation. His smirk, and not a grimace, was really admirable.
