Just because the Florida International athletic department really wanted to send the sports world home for the weekend with a smile on their faces, the Golden Panthers released the following statement on Friday afternoon.

We present it without caption:

Early this morning, our football team had a workout and barbecue on Crandon Park Beach to conclude our summer conditioning program under the supervision of our strength and conditioning staff. Following the workout, some of our athletes went to rinse off at a designated public shower area and a few of them made a poor decision and changed their clothes in public. I want to apologize to the community and anyone who was at the beach this morning for this unfortunate incident. We are committed to helping our student athletes grow as gentlemen while preparing them for their careers. We are looking into this incident, and if appropriate, will take disciplinary action.

Ron Turner
Head Football Coach

Remember, this is the same school that hired Isaiah Thomas to run its basketball program into the ground and then brought in Ron Turner, who ostensibly did the same thing to Illinois’ football program.

Enjoy your weekend, Gamedayr Nation, and remember, if you’re headed to Crandon Park Beach, keep it in the pants!

Stay naked: Athletes pose nude for ESPN The Mag’s “Body Issue”

FIU’s players were at Crandon Beach Park, about 20 miles east of the school’s main campus, having a cookout to celebrate the end of preseason conditioning, according to an report.

Miami-Dade police were brought on to investigate several young men, nude, and in plain view of other beachgoers. However, no charges were filed and none are expected.

The Golden Panthers can now enjoy their weekend, fun and fancy free.
