FIU player tweets out recruit’s strip club visit, new coach Ron Turner already has a headache

Every coach of every sports team at every level preaches such values as loyalty and integrity and all the rest to their players. That includes, to be sure, the handling of recruits as these high school students take stock of their potential collegiate destinations.

Unfortunately, before coaching even his first game at FIU, coach Ron Turner is going to have to sit down with his team and go over these basic tenets of sportsmanship and well-being — or, at the very least, make sure his new players don’t tweet out visits to the strip club, either way.

David Neal of the Miami Herald noticed a couple of tweets between FIU defensive back Demarkus Perkins and defensive tackle Isame Faciane, and no, the two were not sharing tips for success on the football field.

Turner has dealt with personalities at the professional level, having worked as the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While there may have been divas, those players were men. He must now deal with teenagers and 20-somethings, who will pose an entirely different set of positives and problems.

Yes, that includes Twitter — and some very questionable recruiting tactics.
