Florida freshman LB Matt Rolin suffers torn ACL, out for season

During a press conference on Friday, Florida Gators head coach Will Muschamp announced that true freshman LB Matt Rolin suffered a season-ending knee injury.

Rolin tore his ACL during a non-contact drill, marking the second Florida player in the past week to have his season ended in such fashion. Return specialist and redshirt senior wide receiver Andre Debose is also done for the year with the same injury.

Rolin had received very high praise during camp. He had already played his way into a special teams’ spot and was listed as the No. 2 strong-side linebacker.

The 6’4″, 209-pound Ashburn, Virginia native was the No. 22-ranked outside linebacker in the nation for the class of 2013, according to Rivals.com.
