It’s been a long journey back to the top of the polls, but after seven years, the Florida Gators are once again ranked atop the college basketball world. Florida checked in at No. 1 in both the AP and Coaches’ Poll for Week 17 of the 2013-14 season. The last time UF found itself in the same position was the 2006-07: the Gators’ second consecutive championship season. Billy Donovan has led the program to its only No. 1 rankings in history, which total 11 weeks now.
Florida joins four other teams – Kentucky, Michigan State, Arizona and Syracuse – to be ranked No. 1 this season. The Gators earned 47 of 65 first-place votes in the AP Poll, and 24 of 32 in the Coaches’ Poll.
Next up is the always-difficult road trip to Vanderbilt, which was the last team Florida played while holding the top ranking.
