The 2014 NFL Draft is in the books, and it saw a total of four Florida Gators Drafted. Dominique Easley was the only player to go in the first round, having been picked No. 29 by the New England Patriots. The selection keeps an impressive streak of at least one Florida Gator going in the first round for now seven of the past eight years.
CBS Sports graded the four drafted players no lower than a B (with Easley being the lone A). Below are the players drafted, along with their team, round and pick number.
- Dominique Easley – New England Patriots (Rd. 1/Pk. 29)
- Jaylen Watkins – Philadelphia Eagles (Rd. 4/Pk. 101)
- Ronald Powell – New Orleans Saints (Rd. 5/Pk. 169)
- Jon Halapio – New England Patriots (Rd. 6/Pk. 179)
Interestingly, neither Marcus Roberson or Loucheiz Purifoy were drafted. However, former NFL executive-turned-draft-guru Gil Brandt has the former Gators listed as his top two undrafted cornerbacks. Both will most assuredly be invited to camps and probably signed to free agent contracts.
Other Gators listed on Brandt’s list of top undrafted free agents are Solomon Patton (No. 20 wide receiver), Trey Burton (No. 8 tight end), and Jonotthan Harrison (No. 2 center).
