Florida Gators Will Win SEC East In 2014, According To Shane Matthews

Count former Gators QB Shane Matthews among those who believe the nation will see a revived Florida football program in 2014. Matthews feels that Kurt Roper’s work with Jeff Driskel is going to produce a great year from the quarterback. He even predicted that the Gators would win the SEC East in 2014.

To those outside of Florida’s fan base, Matthews’ prediction may seem like a homer pick. However, when you take a closer look at everything that transpired in 2013, he is not off base. The Gators lost what seemed like every starter to injury last season, which prompted a downward spiral for the team.

For 2014, when you consider that Georgia lost Aaron Murray to the draft, Missouri kicked leading playmaker Dorial Green-Beckham off the team, and Tennessee is still rebuilding, the Gators could very well represent the East in Atlanta this fall.
