Report: Frank Martin suspended for sideline tirade, yelling at players

The University of South Carolina has reportedly suspended head basketball coach Frank Martin for the team’s regular season finale against Mississippi State. USC athletic director Ray Tanner made the decision after reviewing the coach’s expletive-laced outburst against Florida on Tuesday night.

“The one-game suspension is a result of inappropriate verbal communication as it relates to the well-being of our student-athletes,” Tanner said in a statement.

During a timeout, television cameras picked up Martin swearing at players, even appearing to call one an a**hole. Below is a GIF of the incident.

According to The State’s David Cloninger, USC’s athletic department received several phone calls from people upset by the coach’s behavior.

Associate head coach Matt Figger will reportedly helm the team on Saturday in Starkville.
