FSU-Miami point spread is largest ever for two undefeated teams this late in season

The Florida State Seminoles play host to fellow ACC unbeaten Miami on Saturday in front of the ESPN College GameDay crew. While the BCS standings and identical 7-0 records may make these two squads seem evenly matched, the Vegas oddsmakers don’t exactly see it that way.

In fact, the Hurricanes are currently the biggest underdogs in history for a matchup between undefeated top 10 squads this late in the year. As of Wednesday the point spread is a massive 21 points.

A win is a win, and Miami has continued to pile up victories. However, quarterback Jameis Winston’s ‘Noles have been winning with style.

FSU was won its last three games – Maryland, Clemson and NC State – by a combined score of 163-31.

Miami, on the other hand, has only been able to dispatch Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Wake Forest by a combined score of 96-74. The wins over the Tar Heels and Demon Deacons were only by a combined seven points.

Scores alone obviously have bettors clamoring to put their money down on Florida State.

Here’s the thing, however: What if Miami just plays close games, against everyone? What if that’s just the type of team they are?

We will find out if that’s the case come Saturday night.
