Kirk Herbstreit took some of the information at hand – namely the fact that Florida would be entering Saturday’s showdown against Toledo without several starters thanks to injuries and suspensions – and chose the Rockets to win over the Gators.
It was a bold choice by the ESPN College GameDay panelist, and it was one that did not come true. Following Florida’s 24-6 win in The Swamp, star defensive lineman Dominique Easley was asked about Herbtreit’s choice.
Obviously, the pass-rushing monster was dismissive, but not exactly for the reason you might think.
For the record, Herbstreit was the co-captain of Ohio State when he served as the Buckeyes’ quarterback in 1992. It was his senior season, and he finished with 1,904 passing yards en route to team MVP honors.
Not that Easley cares – it’s off to Week 2 for him. Will Herbie pick against UF once again?
