Duke sophomore Rodney Hood channeled his inner Dr. J during Thursday night’s game against UCLA.
In the early going of the second half, with his Blue Devils leading 45-43, Hood drove the baseline. As he approached the hoop, Hood found himself behind the backboard. Instead of kicking the ball out, or continuing to dribble, he elevated and laid in an incredible behind-the-backboard layup. Hood also drew a foul on the play for the “and one.”
Duke would pull away from UCLA for an 80-63 win.
For comparison, here’s Dr. J’s famous behind-the-backboard layup.
