After trading away virtually every other valuable piece of the Miami Marlins 2012 ballclub, outfielder Giancarlo Stanton was left as easily the most recognizable player on the team to open the squad’s 2013 campaign.
However, on Monday night Stanton was forced to leave the Marlins’ extra-innings showdown against the New York Mets with a strained right hamstring.

While hustling down the first base line, Stanton pulled up lame, grasping the back of his right leg. He took several hops on his left leg before going down hard and remaining there for a few moments.
Luckily for both himself and the team, Stanton was able to walk off under his own power. We say luckily for the Marlins because they are 6-19 as of writing and Stanton is their only big bat in the middle of the lineup.
