With a commanding, 23-3 lead over hated rival Florida, it looked like the Georgia Bulldogs were going to cruise to an easy victory, and send the Gators back to The Swamp with a third consecutive loss.
That was all before Aaron Murray attempted what was supposed to be a simple screen pass to tight end Arthur Lynch. However, the ball slipped through Lynch’s hands and onto the ground. The tight end thought it was a dead ball, and made no attempt to pick up the ball. The refs never whistled the play finished, so Florida defensive lineman Leon Orr smartly recovered the fumble.
Upon review, the pass was called a lateral, and the ball was awarded to Florida. From there, quarterback Tyler Murphy led the team on the touchdown drive. The lateral sparked 17 unanswered points by the Gators.
So yes, we’re pretty sure we can call this a “game-changer.”
