Nebraska wide receiver Quincy Enunwa rang in the new year right on Jan. 1. With the Cornhuskers trailing 17-14 in the third quarter, Enunwa caught a deep bomb from quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. for a 99-yard touchdown reception.
Not only was the score Enunwa’s 12th touchdown catch of the season, but it was also a Gator Bowl record, breaking the Nebraska record set by Johnny Rodgers in 1971.
Armstrong’s second touchdown pass of the day gave Nebraska a 24-12 lead over Georgia with 4:58 left in the third quarter.
