There is only one professional sports franchise in America that can never (seriously, never) leave the city that it is currently in. No, the Chicago Bears won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. However, should ownership choose to pick up tomorrow and head to say, Albuquerque, there would be nothing to stop them from doing so.
The same cannot be said of their NFC North rivals, the Green Bay Packers. Thriving in a small town, the Packers are a publicly owned entity without a single owner (Full disclosure: The humble writer of this post owns a few shares himself). It has been interwoven within the greater community in a manner enjoyed in only a very few other places nation and worldwide.
Fans in the city live and breath for their Packers, even decking out their cars in the team’s trademark Green and Gold en mass.
Now the legions of fans with Green Bay-themed rides will have the chance to show them off during the team’s first Green and Gold Car Show, according to the Press-Gazette:
The event will be noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 14 in the Adams Street parking lot near Baylake City Center. The Best In Show prize will be two tickets to the Packers’ game against the Washington Redskins on Sept. 15 at Lambeau Field.
Participation is free, though applications are required. For an application, contact Sean Schultz at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (920) 360-5720. Schultz and Chris Wood are the event organizers.
We’re kind of hoping someone breaks out a Packers-themed Ferrari or something like that.
