On Thursday, the international sports world was rocked by the news that the iconic David Beckham had played his final game of soccer. According to the UK Daily Mail, the 38-year old superstar announced his official retirement after helping lead Paris Saint-German to its first French title in 19 years.

He is the only British player to win a pro championship in four different countries (Manchester United, Real Madrid, Los Angeles Galaxy, Paris Saint-German). He captained Team England and collected 115 caps, a record for a British outfield player.

“If you had told me as a young boy I would have played for and won trophies with my boyhood club Manchester United, proudly captained and played for my country over one hundred times and lined up for some of the biggest clubs in the world, I would have told you it was a fantasy. I’m fortunate to have realized those dreams.”
