Tuesday was a day many of FSU’s baseball players will never forget. The Seminoles traveled to Steinbrenner Field in Tampa to play an exhibition game against the New York Yankees.
Florida State fans flocked in droves to watch Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston (0-for-2 with a strikeout) take the field for his Spring sport. Head football coach Jimbo Fisher, who was on hand to throw out the first pitch, even commented on the large crowd.
Great to see all the Florida State fans here, all the people here,” Fisher said. “That’s why Coach [Yankees manager Joe] Girardi said it was the first spring training game they were ever outnumbered in fans.”
Though the Seminoles fell 8-3, the players all had a great experience and talked about it following the contest. Below are highlights from the exhibition.
