Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston can add another distinction to his already impressive 2013 season. On Tuesday, The Associated Press honored Winston as its “player of the year.” He collected a total of 49 votes out of 56 to earn the merit.
Winston helped lead the Seminoles to a perfect, 13-0 record, an ACC title, and a berth in the 2014 BCS National Championship. Earlier in December, he was honored as the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner. He also collected the Davey O’Brien quarterback of the year and Walter Camp national player of the year awards.
For the season Winston completed 67.9-percent of his passes for 3,820 yards and 38 touchdowns, compared to only 10 interceptions.
Florida State will play for the national title against Auburn on Monday, Jan. 6.
