Report: James Franklin expected to be next Penn State coach

It appears that the Penn State Nittany Lions have found their new head coach in Vanderbilt’s James Franklin. Various outlets are reporting that Franklin and the school have reached an agreement.

In his three years with Vanderbilt, Franklin has led the program out of the SEC cellar into national respectability. He guided the Commodores to three consecutive bowl games, and has compiled a 24-15 overall record. This past season was arguably his most successful yet, having beaten SEC powers Florida, Georgia and Tennessee for the first time in school history.

Franklin is a native of  Langhorne, Pennsylvania, and played quarterback in college for East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania.

Penn State has tabbed Franklin to replace recently departed coach Bill O’Brien, who left for the NFL’s Houston Texans.
