After spending three very successful years at the helm of Vanderbilt, James Franklin decided to head back to his home state of Pennsylvania to take over Penn State. While Franklin dug the Commodores out of the cellar, Vanderbilt afforded the star coach an opportunity to build his resume into one of the best in the country.
In order to show his gratitude, Franklin placed an ad in Thursday’s Tennessean. It reads, ”Thank you, Vanderbilt. It was a wonderful experience. I am forever grateful. Anchor down, James Franklin.”
