Javaris Crittenton arrested for trying to buy 400 kilos of cocaine

Former NBA player Javaris Crittenton was arrested last week in Atlanta on drug charges. It turns out he was trying to buy a lot of product – 400 kilos of cocaine and 10 pounds of weed, to be exact.

TMZ has reported that the drug sting has been in operation since 2012, and that Crittenton was one of 20 suspects picked up by police.

Crittenton was born and went to school in Atlanta, even being named Mr. Georgia Basketball by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution while in high school. He then attended Georgia Tech for one season before turning pro. Crittenton washed out of the league following a locker room dispute with Gilbert Arenas that led to guns being drawn.

This arrest adds to Crittenton’s legal woes. In 2011, he was arrested for murder of an Atlanta mother of four during a suspected drive-by shooting. He was formally indicted by a Fulton County grand jury in April 2013. Despite the charges, Crittenton has been out on bail.
