According to a report from Paul Coro of the Arizona Central, the Pheonix Suns have hired Jeff Hornacek as their new head coach.

The Suns and Hornacek have agreed to a three-year contract, which will be executed on Monday.

Hornacek has been with the Utah Jazz since 2007. He was brought on as a shooting coach before the 2007 playoffs and moved into a full-time assistant coaching role in 2011.

Hornacek, who spent 14 years playing in the NBA, was drafted in 1986 with the 46th-overall selection by the Suns. He spent a total of six seasons in Phoenix before being traded to Philadelphia, where he spent a season and a half, and then eventually finishing his career out with the Utah Jazz.

The sharpshooter will head back to his NBA roots, becoming the 16th head coach in Phoenix Suns history.
